Short Metrics Component

What It Is

The Short Metrics component is a real-time, at-a-glance look at the securities investors are most bearish on.

How It Works

This component displays equities from three different Short Interest perspectives: Highest Short Interest, Highest Cost to Borrow, and Lowest Availability. These indicators offer a glimpse at investor sentiment around individual securities. The securities that rank highest in these three areas may be experiencing negative investor sentiment, which could be an indication that a price drop or selloff is coming.

Where It Is

Directly below the Market Now Component, across the center of your Hub.

What You Can Do With It

• Get quick-view data for the securities displaying:

• The Highest Short Interest;

• The Highest Cost to Borrow; and

• The Lowest Availability.

• Add any Ticker to your Portfolio. Just hit the (+).

• Add any Ticker to your Watchlist. Just hit the (*).

• Click ‘View All” to see Short Metrics for all securities in the marketplace. Filter Short Interest data by choosing from more than a dozen indicators including price, % increase, cost to borrow, and availability.

• After clicking “View All,”, you can also: 

• Toggle between comprehensive market data on Securities, Crypto, ForEx, and ETFs;

• Filter data according Industry, Exchange, Type, Country, or Category; and 

• Use shortcuts to jump directly into any of the tickers, articles, communities, or tags that you follow.


Why It’s So Cool

There’s an old saying—sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. With the Short Metric component, you’ll know where the bear is at all times. Instead of getting eaten, you’ll have a chance to watch market trends and make informed decisions around negatively performing stocks.
